Giving Back

He gave for years without a word. Now it is our turn to give back to him.

For years, Uncle Loh quietly showed up, fixing old electronics, collecting them for recycling, and donating every single ringgit earned back to the elder home. He never asked for recognition, never expected anything in return. He simply gave. Now, life has come full circle. The man who once took care of us has become part of our family here. It is now our turn to care for him, and we do so with all the love and gratitude he deserves.

She arrived with no family. She became the heartbeat of this home.

Aunty Wong came to us with no family, no one to call her own. We made sure she would never feel abandoned, never face the world alone. And what we found was a woman full of life, laughter, and endless stories. She is the heartbeat of our elder home, sharing her experiences and lighting up every room she enters. She may have arrived with nothing, but she has given this home something priceless: her warmth, her joy, and her spirit.

Resilience

A stroke took half his strength. Nothing could take his spirit.

At 55, a stroke changed Uncle Hok's life forever. Sadly, he was left to face it alone. It was Tzu Chi who found him and gave us the blessing of caring for him. He does not say much, but his actions speak loudly. Every day he gets up, walks, and exercises, half his body weakened but his spirit unbroken. He helps caregivers when he can. He smiles warmly when visitors come. In his quiet resilience, he reminds us that the human spirit, when treated with love, never truly falls.

The people beside us

Our story is also told by the families who trust us, and the volunteers who give their time.

A daughter's peace of mind

My father is stubborn and refused all help. But within two weeks at Amitabha he was asking the staff to join his evening walks. I haven't worried about him once since he moved in.

Why I keep coming back

I started volunteering here as a university student. That was four years ago. Every Saturday I lead a music session and the joy on the residents' faces is better than any exam result I ever got.

Amirul Hadi · Volunteer, UM student

Medical care that goes beyond

As a retired nurse, I was sceptical. But the standard of care here — the detailed handover notes, the compassion in every small act, matches the best I saw in 30 years of hospital work.

Nurse Fatimah (retd.) · Medical volunteer

Giving with confidence

I donate monthly and always asked where my money goes. Amitabha gives me a breakdown every quarter. Knowing my ringgit buys meals, medicine, and smiles; that keeps me giving.

Tan Chee Weng · Monthly donor, Klang
